With a practical tent heater, cold days are a thing of the past. The operation of the heaters and fan heaters is done via a gas cartridge, direct connection to the gas bottle, or with electricity. Mobile gas heaters are used especially for camping, but also by anglers, during the colder months of the year. If you are travelling with a camper van, you can use camping heaters that are electrically operated.

Tent heaters for the cold days

Electric heaters

The safest way for campers to heat their tents is with electric heaters, which are usually suitable for caravans. For tents however, this heating system is rather unsuitable, as there is usually no electricity available. A good fan heater should have overheating protection and an automatic switch-off function.

Camping heater with infra-red

These awning heaters do require a power connection to a 230 volt socket, but they are odourless, noiseless and there are no gas bottles to change. Another advantage of the camping heater is that it is absolutely low-emission, which means that no CO2 is produced.

Propane gas heaters

Butane or propane gas is used for larger mobile heaters and is not suitable for tents. You are connected directly to the gas cylinder via appropriate connections. With these gas heaters, you must pay particular attention to safety. For example, the bottles need an appropriate safety system, must be able to stand safely and need a secure connection.

Heaters with gas cartridge

Heaters with gas cartridges are often very handy and easy to transport. However, they should be secured with a safety connection mechanism to prevent gas from escaping. With newer models of cartridge burners, there is no open flame, which reduces the risk of objects catching fire. High-quality gas burners usually have an integrated piezo ignition, a practical shut-off function for emergencies and a timer function.

Catalytic oven

This mobile heater uses a glass fibre mat to evenly distribute heat to the room or the awning tent. The heater uses the lowest emission heating technology, through flameless catalytic combustion via a platinum-impregnated catalytic mat. In this process, platinum accelerates combustion without itself being consumed and lowers the reaction temperature.

Where can I operate my heater?

As a general rule, never operate a tent heater indoors. In the caravan, therefore, use heaters from Truma & Co. These are permanently installed and must comply with much stricter safety regulations.
