Inflatable awnings

Inflatable awning: quick, light & robust

You don't feel like putting effort into pitching your awning with conventional poles any more? Then an inflatable awning is the right choice for a you.
Air awnings now exist for all vehicle types. There are now inflatable awnings for caravans, but also for motorhomes in different heights and sizes. For owners of camping buses whose new bus awning is to be inflatable, there are numerous models with small pack size and low weight to choose from.
In a fraction of the time, the air awning is up and running and can even be erected on its own.
Want more information? In the Berger blog we have dealt intensively with air tents in this article.

Advantages of inflatable awnings

  • Weight: These variants (inflatable) are considerably lighter than the models with poles.
  • Time saving: The air awning can be pitched much faster than a conventional tent
  • Pitching: In addition, if in doubt, you can pitch air awnings on your own because you only need a pump - pole chaos is a thing of the past.
  • Robust: Even though it is an air-filled awning, the models are still storm-proof and extremely robust.

How does the erection of the air awning work?

First you should park your caravan on a level surface. Afterwards, there is explicitly no need for tedious sorting of poles, as is the case with conventional tents. Simply erect your inflatable awning as follows:
  1. Spread out the tent carpet
  2. Unroll the air tent and check for damage
  3. Turn on the valves on the air tube awning
  4. Connect the air pump and inflate the tent
  5. Raise the caravan awning by hand, if there is some air in the tent
  6. Continue pumping until the desired pressure is reached
  7. Peg down the tent as usual

What do I have to consider when buying an awning?

An important factor is of course the size of the tent. The smallest models have a depth of around 2.5 metres and a length of 3 metres. If you are only going on holiday with one or two people in the motorhome, this size is definitely sufficient. On the total of 7 square metres you have space for a small sitting area and your (dirty) hiking gear.
The largest tents have lengths of more than 7 metres. This gives you much more space, which is an advantage especially in spring or autumn, when it can still be rainy. However, these travel awnings can only be used with a correspondingly long caravan. For the smaller camper van, you need a camper awning with significantly smaller dimensions.
