Product description
MT AGM batteries are state-of-the-art energy storage batteries with high power density and optimised for use in mobile homes. The electrolyte has been completely bound in micro-fibreglass mats. In combination with extremely high-density electrode plates, high storage capacities and minimum wear losses are now possible under cyclic loads.
MT AGM batteries are completely maintenance-free and position-independent. No harmful acid can escape, even if the case breaks. The self-discharge is very low. AGM batteries are a bit more expensive than liquid batteries, but this is really put into perspective when the on-board battery is subjected to frequent cyclic loads (which, with today's power consumers on board, can hardly be prevented).
Anyone who converts to AGM or gel batteries first needs to make sure whether the on-board charger can be switched to the respective battery type. However, it is always possible to connect an additional charger or battery control booster (BCB) in parallel.
Since MT AGM batteries do not discharge to the outside, they are generally approved for interiors. Advantages compared to gel batteries result from the slightly higher storage capacity with the same space and the improved power consumption at cooler outdoor temperatures (e.g. in winter camping). Simple installation is possible thanks to the four-sided bottom bar.
Capacity expansion. What do you need to consider?
Only batteries that have the same internal resistance - i.e. have the same storage capacity (Ah) - and that are of the same age may be interconnected to expand on-board capacity. Therefore, never combine a 88 Ah with a 110 Ah battery or an old battery with a new one. Also, an AGM may not be connected to a conventional acid battery.
The only exception is the connection of the starter battery (acid) to the on-board battery (AGM or gel) while driving. But this is a pure charging process in which batteries of different types do not affect each other negatively. In the vehicle electrical system, however, AGM may only be connected to AGM, gel batteries to gel batteries and acid batteries to acid batteries!
