The MPPTplus+ solar controller series consists of advanced solar charge controllers of the latest generation. Thanks to microprocessor-controlled charging and MPPT charge control, they can be used for all common module technologies.

Due to the MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracker) function, the most effective use of solar power from the solar modules is always provided. The high efficiency (max. 97 %) and the significantly shorter battery charging times enable the best possible power utilization of your solar system.

Application Recommendations
MPPTplus+ solar controllers are ideally suited for solar systems where the module voltage is significantly higher than the battery voltage. Using an MPPTplus+ solar controller can save up to 30% of the solar panel area to achieve a comparable power output compared to conventional solar charge controllers.
Especially in northern latitudes, where the temperature of the solar module remains low despite solar irradiation, the MPPTplus+ solar controllers get an optimum of power out of your solar system.

MPPT - charging method: highly efficient, fast, gentle on batteries

Maximum Power Point Tracker (MPPT):
The most efficient operating point of the solar modules (MPPT) changes due to various influences such as temperature, irradiance and the type of solar cells. Behind the MPPT control is a technology that continuously determines and uses the maximum power output of the solar modules. The voltage surplus from the solar modules is converted into a higher charging current. This higher charging current ensures that the battery charging time is reduced.

Automatic detection of system voltage

The MPPTplus+ solar controllers are suitable for operation in 12 V and 24 V solar systems. They detect independently whether a 12 V or 24 V system is connected. it is possible to set the system voltage manually via the DIP switch.

Selection of battery type via DIP switch

The solar controllers are perfectly designed for all types of lead batteries (lead-acid, lead-gel, AGM) and LiFePO4 batteries. An optimal adjustment of the charging behavior to the different battery types is made possible by the DIP switch.

Automatic temperature compensation
During the charging process, the temperature is measured via the external temperature sensor and thus the charging end voltage is dynamically adjusted to the temperature conditions. At high temperatures, the charging end voltage is reduced - overcharging and unnecessary gassing are avoided. At low temperatures, the end-of-charge voltage is increased and the batteries can be optimally recharged.

Power saving: switchable standby function

The standby function can be activated or deactivated via DIP switch. If the solar voltage is insufficient, the solar charge controller is put into standby mode (if activated). The self-consumption of the MPPTplus+ charge controller is thus reduced by up to 80 %, the connected battery is protected and unnecessary discharge is avoided. As soon as sufficient solar voltage is present, the solar charge controller automatically returns from standby mode.

Switchable load output

Solar controllers of the MPPTplus+ series also have a switchable load output as standard. This can be switched on or off manually using a pushbutton.

Multi-stage charging technology - matched to the battery type

The charging procedure is perfectly matched to the selected battery type. Depending on the battery type, charging takes place in a two-stage or three-stage process.

Equalization charging for optimal battery care

For professional battery maintenance, the MPPTplus+ solar controller for lead-acid batteries offers the additional function "Equalization charge". This can be activated via the DIP switch. In this mode, charging takes place for 60 min. with increased end-of-charge voltage.

Existing sulfate layers in the battery are broken down and the battery's service life is significantly increased. Equalization charging: Well-maintained wet or acid batteries have a significantly longer service life. For longer periods without current drain or for deeply discharged batteries, we recommend using the "equalization charge" function in order to remove any harmful sulfate layers that may be present as far as possible
early and completely.

Control and monitoring via remote control or webbox LCD

The solar controllers of the MPPTplus+ series are optimally matched to the IVT inverters of the DSW series. With the help of the original IVT accessories - remote control (FB-04: wired, FB-05: wireless version) or the Webbox LCD (computer network) - up to 4 devices (DSW inverters and MPPTplus+ solar controllers) can be individually controlled and monitored.

Individual configuration and evaluation of the MPPTplus+ solar controller: Using the remote controls or the webbox LCD, you can set the end-of-charge voltage, deep discharge protection and temperature compensation, as well as evaluate and monitor the solar power. The charging current can be limited, which is especially important when charging smaller batteries. In addition, the operating times of the load output can be programmed.

Extensive protection functions

all important protective functions, such as overcharging, deep discharge protection and overtemperature protection, are controlled fully automatically via the microprocessor.
Protection against overcharging: As soon as the final charging voltage is reached, the solar charge controller switches off the charging current. This prevents overcharging and damage to the solar battery.

Deep discharge protection with automatic load disconnection or load connection: The deep discharge protection causes the solar controller to automatically switch off the load output when the battery voltage falls below the minimum voltage. As soon as the battery has been recharged and the battery voltage rises above the reset voltage, the solar charge controller automatically switches the load output back on.

Protection against overheating: The MPPTplus+ solar charge controllers are protected against overheating. A built-in temperature sensor ensures that the charge controller is automatically switched off in the event of excessive heating (> 85 °C). As soon as the charge controller has cooled down, it switches on again automatically.

Protection against short-circuit and reverse polarity: Depending on the version, the controllers are protected against short-circuit and reverse polarity with a 10 A, 20 A or 30 A blade fuse.
Reverse current block: All IVT solar charge controllers are equipped with a reverse current block as standard. If the solar power is too low, e.g. at dusk or at night, the reverse current block prevents the battery from being back-discharged via the solar module.
