With the Oyster Connect, the engineers of the premium manufacturer of mobile satellite technology from Baden-Württemberg, Germany, have developed a special antenna system for sophisticated requirements: the mobile hotspot ensures a stable signal - even while driving.

You can surf in your camper, camping bus or caravan in complete relaxation - and also enjoy all the benefits of a "mobile home network".

The connection is maintained regardless of location, regardless of which network the external signal comes from - the registered end devices connect to their own hotspot completely automatically.

One of the main advantages of this special antenna system with its direct RF connection to the transmit and receive modules is that the mounting location of the outdoor unit is at the top of the vehicle roof, enabling maximum transmit and receive power.

The Oyster Connect is thus far superior to classic smartphone reception and products currently available on the market, since the attenuation of the signals by the vehicle structure (thermal insulation glazing / metal bodywork) and the length of the antenna cable no longer play a role.

The highlight is that the Outdoor Unit has both an LTE and a Dual Band WiFi module built in.

The Oyster Connect Global supports the LTE bands worldwide.

Each of these modules has a directly connected antenna system that has been specially tuned for this application. This ensures a greater range and, if the LTE network is overloaded by too many users, it can reach not only the next radio mast, but also the one after that. In the Wi-Fi sector, the MIMO system with 4 antennas ensures stable data throughput in both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. Behind MIMO is the ability to send and receive a data stream via multiple antennas through intelligent data processing (Multiple Input Multiple Output).

The LTE function is based on an ALL-band antenna in diversity technology. It supports all European LTE bands/providers and provides maximum transmit and receive performance without antenna alignment.

The information received in front of the Outdoor Unit is transmitted lossless to the Indoor Unit by means of a data cable.

The Oyster Connect - Indoor Unit

The second component of the Oyster Connect system, the Indoor Unit, is located in the vehicle interior and serves as a WiFi access point, just like you know it from home. The Indoor Unit is a fully-fledged, private access point with integrated 2.4 and 5 GHz WiFi antennas (2x2 MIMO technology). Both bands are in parallel operation - so you can connect several mobile devices simultaneously, even on different bands, with the highest possible data transfer.

With the Indoor Unit, the desired end devices, such as smartphone, tablet, laptop or smart TV only need to be connected once. It also has a LAN port and can therefore also set up a private wired LAN network. The Outdoor Unit has an aerodynamic design: With a height of just twelve centimeters and a length of about 40 centimeters, it fits on any recreational vehicle and impresses as a 1.5-kilogram lightweight.

When it comes to installation, the ten Haaft engineers have remained true to their tried-and-tested system: A mounting plate is glued to the roof and the antenna housing is mounted with four screws. The inserted SIM card can be replaced at any time if necessary, for example with a country-specific SIM card.

A roof grommet and the four-meter data cable allow flexible installation on any vehicle.
