How to Set Up an Inflatable Awning?
First, park your caravan on a level surface. Then, there’s no need to worry about sorting through poles, as you would with traditional tents. Simply set up your inflatable awning by following these steps:- Spread out the tent carpet
- Unroll the air awning and inspect it for any damage
- Open the valves on the air tubes of the awning
- Connect the air pump and begin inflating the awning
- Lift the caravan awning by hand once some air has filled the tubes
- Continue inflating until the desired pressure is achieved
- Secure the awning by pegging it down as usual
What to Keep in Mind When Buying an Inflatable Awning?
An important factor to consider is, of course, the size of the awning. The smallest models typically have a depth of around 2.5 meters and a length of 3 meters. This size is usually sufficient if you're traveling with just one or two people in a motorhome, offering approximately 7 square meters of space for a small seating area and your (possibly muddy) hiking gear.Larger models, with lengths exceeding 7 meters, provide significantly more space, which can be especially beneficial during spring or autumn when rainy weather is more common. However, these larger travel awnings are designed for longer caravans. If you have a smaller camper van, you'll need a more compact awning with smaller dimensions.
