Drinking Water Disinfection
Drinking water disinfection may be necessary if the fresh water supply with bacteria-free drinking water is not assured. The disinfection of the fresh water tank in the mobile home or Caravan is mostly achieved by use of chemicals. Silver ions have proven to be effective. They are added to the drinking water after thorough tank cleaning and disinfection. The silver ions filter suspended matter out of the water and prevent recontamination of the tank contents for up to six months. An alternative to drinking water disinfection with silver ions is chlorine oxide. It is effective against bacteria, viruses, algae and fungi and thus ensures germ-free drinking water when camping.
