INFORMATION ON WARNING SIGNS FOR ITALY!

Anyone travelling to our neighbouring European countries in their car should familiarise themselves with the traffic regulations of the countries they are travelling to before starting their journey.

This applies not only to the country, but also to countries in transit. What applies in Germany can be quite different in other European countries. For example obligations in Italy, here a warning sign must be attached to the load security (camper, caravan and passenger car).

The warning sign must meet special requirements. According to traffic regulations (implementing regulations), it must be standardised and used in the cases specified by the law.

According to the implementing regulations, a square plate covered with reflective material must be attached to the end of the protruding part of the load in such a way that the reflective stripes always point in the direction of travel.

In Italy the warning plate must be:

• Have 5 red / 4 white hatched reflective stripes
• Have a size of 50 x 50 cm
• Be made of aluminium and have 4 eyelets punched in for fastening

The warning sign must be attached, for example, if:

• a rear bicycle rack (with or without load) is fitted, even when folded,
• or if an object (surfboard, etc.) is transported on the roof rack and it protrudes over the rear bumper.

Whenever a load protrudes beyond the overall length of the vehicle at the rear (observe the vehicle registration) (no protruding at the front is permitted), the law states that "all appropriate safety measures must be taken to ensure that other road users are not put in danger as a result " - thus there is always a labelling obligation.
