Summary
German Hiking Youth, Basic, Equipment, Practice, Bonus, Index, Replacement Log Sheet.

about the author
Markus Gründel has been a passionate hiker and tinkerer since childhood and loves technical gadgets. The trained banker is mainly in Germany and Scandinavia on foot, by bike or by boat on the road. Shortly after he first turned his hobby into a profession and switched to the outdoor industry, he found his first geocache in 2002 and has since fallen for the fascination of the modern scavenger hunt. In the following years he hid caches in Germany and Norway.

In his second home, the Harz Mountains, he organizes geocaching events for various occasions such as Walpurgis, the 4th International Earthcache Event (4th IEE) or the Brocken Breakfast. He is also the owner of Germany's first Travel Bug Museum.

With the success of his first book "Geocaching I", which became a German-language standard work and is called "the cacher bible" or "the Gründel", he was able to realize himself for the second time and has become known as Germany's first full-time geocacher. On the side, he works as a blogger in the outdoor sector and is a sought-after contact when it comes to topics such as geocaching, GPS and outdoor equipment.

Short description
Geocaching, what is that? And how does the modern scavenger hunt work? This updated edition provides readers with basic knowledge about geocaching: how it came to be, what GPS devices are on the market, and what it costs to purchase them. The basic equipment of the geocacher is described in detail. Dealing with special geocaches and the equipment required for them - such as night caches and abseil caches - is explained. Likewise, the search and logging as well as the hiding and posting of geocaches on the Internet are discussed. The book is rounded out with an extensive collection of the most common ciphers used in geocaching.
