Axle load
Axle load means the weight that is allotted to one axle of the vehicle. Before driving off, this value must be determined exactly and compared with the permissible axle load (to be found in the registration certificate part I, field 7) in order to avoid overloading and to prevent excessive wear of the tyres or even an axle breakage. In order to know how high the actual axle load is for a car or motorhome, first determine the unladen weight of the vehicle. To do this, add the weight of the load including occupants and divide the value obtained by the number of axles. (kerb weight + load weight) / number of axles = axle load passenger car When calculating the axle load of a trailer it should be noted that part of the load falls on the trailer coupling of the towing vehicle. This must also be taken into account
